Hispanic Scholarships

Hispanic Americans are the largest minority group in the United States and Hispanics continue to rapidly outgrow the rest of the population.

Hispanic students looking for scholarships will be happy to know that many large organizations and companies fund Hispanic scholarships regularly. Scholarships for Hispanics are plentiful and the application process is easy.

The Hispanic Scholarship Fund

The Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF) has been award scholarships to Hispanics and Latinos for more than 30 years. Since 1975, the HSF has awarded over $195 million dollars to Hispanics and Latinos across the United States. The HSF provides the Latino community with more college scholarships than any other organization in the country.

In an effort to double the rate of Hispanics earning college degrees by 2010, the Hispanic Scholarship Fund continues to grow the number of scholarships given out to the Hispanic community and the amount awarded to each student.

The HSF receives money from a wide variety of organizations, here are just a few:

* Wachovia Foundation Funded $125,000
* Wells Fargo Contributed $100,000
* Shell Oil Company Granted $50,000
* McNamara Family Foundation Contributed $700,000

The HSF provides plenty of information to help Hispanics apply for scholarships.

Hispanic College Fund

The Hispanic College Fund (HCF) provides scholarships and mentoring to underprivileged Hispanics. Last year, the HCF awarded over $2 million dollars in scholarships to over 600 students across the country. In addition to general scholarships, the HCF offers scholarships from specific companies.

Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute(CHCI) Scholarhip

The Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute was founded in 1978 in order to develop the next generation of Latino/Hispanic leaders. The CHCI Scholarhip is for Latino students and does not require any specific GPA score or major requirement, so this is a scholarship that almost any Hispanic can apply for.

Scholarship rewards range from $1,000-$5,000.

Hispanic Scholarship Opportunities

Hilton Family Diversity Scholarship Program (HFDSP)

The HFDSP is a scholarship from Hilton. Winners are awarded $2,500 in renewable scholarships and invited to attend the Hilton Scholars Retreat. Students must be of Hispanic descent and earned at least a 3.0 GPA.

Lockheed Martin Scholarship

The Lockheed Martin Scholarship is for students pursuing degrees in business administration, science or engineering. Students must be of Hispanic descent and earned at least a 3.0 GPA. Scholarships range from $500-$5,000.
